Il fiore
Water being a major element in our desert contemporary home, we created a sculpture that would reflect in the name of our home, "Casa di Fiore" in a water environment. Placing the piece in the primary location in the living room reflection pool, the flower with a background of grass lawns and plants, becomes the focal point as one enters the home.

Vulnerability
The female figure represents the feminine nature in all of us whether a man or woman. This pose, suggesting a women's vulnerability both in sexuality as well the dreaded doctor's examination, is a metaphor for that feminine fear that is in all of us. As one approaches the piece from a distance, it seems to be nothing more than an angular sculpture. Yet, as one comes closer, a feeling of anxiety as to the personal aspects of the pose, reminds us of that innate fear.

Senora in reposa
The challenge of sculpting this piece was to explore the fine line between figurative and impressionistic art. The reclining nude is evident as to the subject; however at a deeper level the free flow of the lines and spaces suggests sensuality and contemplation.

Life
In the traditional interpretation of the crucifixion, Jesus of Nazarene was put to the cross for his unwillingness to acknowledge the absolute power of the emperor. It was here that Jesus, the man was put to death only to rise from the ashes of death, to supposedly demonstrate to the world, that he was the son of god. However, there is another interpretation that can be made. One that understands the spiritual, rather than the human meaning of the event. The transformation could celebrate the eternal life that we all have within us.
The marble represents our human experience, whereas the bronze cross reflects our individual spirituality. The head of Jesus, in the shape of an egg which again reminds us of life. The stainless steel crown of thorns, is a metaphor for the many trials we work through as we travel the path of life. The lotus flower is the universal symbol for love, which is the foundation of life. Finally, there are the scars that represent the lessons we learn as we work through the conflict of our humanity and spirituality.

Bathing on a Sunday
The purpose of this geometric expression was to explore the influence of the sun on sculpture. By shaping the elements of the piece in flat or angular surfaces, the ongoing change of the sun's rotation generated surfaces of shadow and light, creating new expressions of the original form.

In memory of 9/11
Three birds, representing flight as well as the planes that crashed in the tragedy of 9/11 are supported in three different pedestals representing the three locations of that fateful day. The highest bird is supported by two square tubes representing the twin towers. The middle support is a five sided tube representing the Pentagon. Finally, the third bird is supported by a column of small individual tubes representing the passengers killed in the country side.

Democracy or Rebellion????
When do we decide that a symbol such as a fist, threatens the democratic process? History has shown that a rebellion can be the beginning of a potential democratic society. Is the action a demonstration of the support for the status quo or against those who threaten our need for change? Maybe it's best not to rush to judgment.

EMERGING NATION A WOMEN'S NEW CONSCIOUSNESS
In most Arab countries woman are kept in emotional and social bondage, yet in the western world, this limitation has all be diminished as the repercussions of the "women's movement" has broken the shackles of ignorance and fear. The process of this feminine revolution is similar to the historical emergence of a country i.e., demanding issues far in advance of the ability to deal with the new status, innocence of the consequence and confusion as to what direction that best meets the original declaration. The black Belgium marble represents the existing forces of limitation by both country and society, whereas the inserted white Carrera marble depicts the hopes and aspirations of both emerging entities.

L'abbraccio (the embrace)
In celebrating our marriage, I presented this piece to my wife at our wedding. The sculpture is a metaphor for the process of sculpting as well falling in love. In sculpting there is a need for a base and in a relationship the foundation of the marriage is equally important. The beginning stages of sculpting as well as in a relationship, we all experience rough beginning, yet eventually experiencing the smoothness of time and familiarity, the difficult issues blend into a harmonious and loving finish.

Sailing is a special experience as the movement towards one’s destination can be exciting, fulfilling and introspective. Equally is true as we travel through life. The sculpture is a metaphor for the true relationship of our humanity and our spiritually as we travel through life. The boat’s black hull represents our human life experiences. The white sail represents our spiritually. Most believe that the hull, or our humanity, is the foundation for all decisions. Yet, in truth, the sail, our spiritually, is the force that takes us to new horizons.
