Saddelbrook
Saddlebrook is a major destination resort located near Tampa, Florida. The owners requested us to explore a potential site for an entrance theme structure that would not only be the primary entrance structure to the resort, but could be used for major dining functions, lectures and exhibitions.
We recommended that a structure be built over the existing lagoon as the site would be adjacent to the resort entrance and the convention center. Utilizing precast cast concrete “tees” for the decking, 180ft. glu-laminated beams and a fiber cloth for the roof system, The Pavilion was striking at night as the interior lighting lit up the fiber roof. During the day, the fiber roof allowed natural, but filtered light, into the meeting hall below. Four stone clad columns acted not only the vertical support for the glue-lams beams, but housed the restroom, forward cooking facilities and chair storage. The stone used on the columns repeated the stone veneer on the adjacent bridge.
